[FBGame] The Sims Social - Review

Today we go into uncharted territory looking for a game we recognize, "The Sims" but Social.

So yeah, I decided to review a facebook game, thing is with all the new stuff being released and me without a dime to either buy it or having time to look at a demo and try to pick out the things that are good and bad, and reproduce it on a scale that would fit the game and would probably end up being wrong in the first place.

Like in the normal Sims that we have been introduced to since the first release in 2000, now eleven years later and it's still here, better than ever with the Sims 3 and a tons of expansion packs for you to explore in full detail and possibly look like a creep with a camera if it was real life. In Sims Social you do exactly the same thing, you put your Sims to sleep (not THAT sleep you depraved person you!) and making take a bath and eat, there are tons of differences between this game and its matured familly.

In the Sims social you can be in charge of your Sims, and be able to have a special "status" with your friends Facebook, what this means however is more work for you as you have to go to each one of your friends house (who is also playing) and talk and to special things depending on what is your status. The status that I blatantly referred goes from arch-enemies to complete soul mates and lovers and each of the steps that you take from neutral to whatever you want to be is filled with special things to do, you can either pee on someone's plot or put a spider on the toilet to the romantic "WooHoo" in the shower and in bed, but that's not all, there are even more special options you can do that are available after you reached a certain trait level.

Traits are what your Sim is you can have 6 traits and these are unblocked and upgraded by points you gain by doing quests and reaching a certain job level, you can have good traits and bad traits (like not having to shower), these also influence the interactivity of your sim.

You also have jobs but it's not like something you would make your Sim leave the house and be back sometime later, the jobs are special items you put in your house and its the easiest way to gain money. The thing about jobs in this game is that each special action you perform takes energy from you, and you have 15 energy to spend (+5 for each house you visit daily), now add this to the special items you need to unlock a promotion makes it either easy or hard depending on how many friends you have playing, if you have any.

Now, every now and then, EA releases new furniture and clothing, which is nice since all the new content replaces the old content and you don't need to pay live cash for it, which takes us to the next thing, the currencies. Like many FB games, you have the in-game currency (Simoleons) and a live currency (Gold Coins) that you can spend on, and of course the live currency will always have better things, but on the Sims Social, things turn a bit with the "social" currency. The social currency works when you visit each of the friends house and perform actions with them, now each item that is available on the store for that special currency is better than most of the live currency or in-game currency, so this means that socializing in game counts more than the actual money you put in game.

Lastly, with all the items you have, you can also compete with your friends in the best house of your neighbourhood, this means that all the items you buy (and even put on storage) will have a special weight (or value) that will be added to your house, you won't win anything of course, but you will have the most expensive house around and you can show your e-peen to everyone, or not.

All in all, the game is better than anything Zinga has put out (although it's an opinion and should be regarded as such), it still keeps me going to Facebook and ignoring the adds and other junk just to play the game and add more stuff to my house, like a fine jacuzzi. Anyway play this game, you won't be disappointed as it adds something like the canned The Sims Online with Facebook easy to use games.
